Up for sale, a 2014 Fender Jazz Bass ‘62 vintage reissue model JB62/VSP in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original padded gigbag and hangtags. A rare, top-tier model made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this bass is part of Fender Japan's Vintage Special Project series of instruments, representing the finest craftsmanship that Fender Japan has to offer. Premium touches and features include a nitro lacquer three-tone Sunburst finish, alder body, USA-made pickups, vintage-spec spiral saddles, and premium USA-made CTS pots with a Switchcraft output jack. At 9lbs 14oz, this bass offers ample natural sustain and resonance. The USA-made pickups have plenty of sweet midrange and the articulate growl inherent to the Jazz Bass design, with a clear treble response and plenty of broad thump with the Tone knob dialed back to taste. We’ve had this Jazz Bass professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a medium U-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .840” deep at the 1st fret and .980” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a 7 1/4“ radius, with dot inlay and flawless slender fretwire. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2“ in width, and on the headstock, the clover-button tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with long stems and full-size baseplates. The “Made in Japan” text and JD14-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics function as intended, with the USA-made pickups wired to the stock harness with full-size CTS pots dating to 2011 and a Switchcraft output jack. The chrome-plated control plate and bridge shine like new, and the bass features vintage-style spiral saddles. Plastics comprise the original trio of knobs and the dark brown four-ply tortoise pickguard, which has requisite scuffing on the treble side of the strum path. Cosmetic wear on the gloss nitro lacquer Sunburst finish includes a handful of minor nicks along the body perimeter, largely concentrated along the lower bout, with some light buckle worming on the back at the belly contour and a number of faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as whole. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless. The original Fender-branded padded gigbag is included, along with the factory hangtags.
