Up for sale, a 2013 Martin D-28 Standard Series dreadnought in exceptional, crack-free condition, complete with the original hardshell case and outfitted with an L.R. Baggs Lyric pickup. This Martin has been extremely well-kept over the last decade, and the instrument has an open, articulate tone befitting a guitar that's had time to open up and resonate beyond what one often expects in a "new" guitar. Featuring solid East Indian rosewood back and sides paired with a solid Sitka spruce top that has cured to perfection, this D-28 has classic Martin dreadnought projection, percussive cut, and bold, full character with a balanced response across all strings, attributable to the body shape and X-braced construction. The guitar weighs 5lbs 2oz, freshly restrung with 12-54 bronze strings and professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with easy-playing action.The mahogany neck has a medium depth oval profile carve with just enough roundness in the shoulders, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .875" at the 9th. The guitar boasts a slab ebony fretboard which enhances the treble articulation and note attack, and the original slender frets have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only moderate wear beneath the B and High E strings on frets 1-3. With 14 frets clear of the body, this D-28 has Martin's traditional 25.4" scale length, and the nut measures 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock face, the original gold Martin logo is present on the rosewood veneer, and the Grover Rotomatic chrome tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch reliably.On the body, the carved and compensated bone saddle has plenty of height for future adjustment, and the ebony bridge sits flush with the top on all edges. The L.R. Baggs Lyric pickup is a pressure zone acoustic guitar microphone, striking a balance between the fidelity of high-end studio microphones and the indispensable feedback resistance of piezo pickups. The next step in LR Baggs's Tru Mic technology, the Lyric microphone introduces several new patented technologies, including a unique noise-cancellation system that eliminates the boxiness associated with under-saddle acoustic guitar mics, while conveying the sweet highs and natural low end one expects from an external microphone. The pickup has a 1/4 endpin jack and small Volume control discreetly mounted on the edge of the soundhole.The body is crack-free and extremely clean with sparingly little ambering of the gloss nitro lacquer on top. Cosmetic wear is limited to just a few tiny marks and light finish scratches on the body as a whole. The satin nitro finish on the neck profile has been buffed to a gloss from contact with the palm, with a few shallow marks on the profile length, mostly clustered behind frets 2 and 6. A strap button has also been added to the treble side of the neck heel.The original Martin molded SKB hardshell case is included.
