Up for sale, a 2013 Martin 00-DB Jeff Tweedy signature in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original molded hardshell case. This 00-size Martin, designed in collaboration with Jeff Tweedy, combines several of the Wilco frontman’s favorite Martins into one unique instrument with alterations including a slightly deeper body and longer scale length than a typical Martin 00 for better projection, plus a V-shaped neck with a wider nut for optimal comfort and playability. It’s also the first Martin to be 100% FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) compliant, with all the materials certified by the FSC, meaning this guitar is also environmentally friendly. The X-braced top, back, sides, and neck are crafted from solid mahogany, and the fingerboard is Richlite; this guitar has a warm, rich tone with a touch of dark growl when you really dig in, and a sweet, singing treble register. The body depth at the lower bout is 4.5”, and this guitar has the same scale length as a Martin OM or dreadnought (25.4”), offering enhanced projection and kick. The wound strings have a high volume ceiling, with an overarching string-to-string clarity and detail in all registers ideal for fingerpicking. This 00-DB weighs 3lbs 14oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action. The mahogany neck has a comfortable soft V-shaped profile carve with modest shoulders and ideal heft, measuring .865” deep at the 1st fret and .995” at the 9th. The slab Richlite fretboard features snowflake inlay, and the stock slender fretwire is in great shape, with just a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-5. This guitar plays cleanly in all registers with a straight neck and an optimally-adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 1 3/4“ in width, and on the headstock, the original Martin-embossed open gear tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch with nickel plating and butterbean buttons. The Richlite bridge sits flush with the top on all edges, and the compensated bone saddle has a bit of room left for future adjustments. The dark tortoise pickguard has some light scuffing along the strum path, and the soundhole sports a simple rosette. Through the soundhole, the FSC certification label and factory Martin label are present; the latter denotes this instrument as #439 and sports Jeff Tweedy’s signature. The gloss Mahogany Burst finish on the top is dark and rich, and this is a notably well-kept example, with cosmetic wear on the finish limited to a scant few tiny nicks on the rims and some faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile has been buffed to a semi-gloss through play, with a few shallow marks along the profile length that have no impact on playability. The original Martin-branded molded hardshell case with case candy is included.
