Up for sale, a 2013 Fender Jazz Bass PJ Model JB62-PJ/BD/MH in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A rare "Made in Japan" exclusive model not designed for export and long ago discontinued, this Jazz Bass is unique both visually and sonically, with a PJ pickup configuration, Transparent Blue finish with matching headstock, and factory-installed Leo Quan Badass II bridge. While most Fender basses that have the PJ pickup configuration use a Precision-style body, this JB62-PJ/BD/MH has the sleek looks and comfortable 1 1/2" nut width of the Jazz Bass. The pickups offer both the ample thump and heft of a split coil Precision neck pickup and the midrange cut and articulation of a Jazz pickup at the bridge. The alder-bodied bass is well-balanced on a strap at 9lbs 8oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and strung with a fresh set of 45-100 roundwound strings. The maple neck has a full U-shaped profile carve with plenty of shoulder and heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .870" deep at the 1st fret and 1.005" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard is a dark, tight-grained cut, and the slender vintage-style frets are flawless, playing cleanly up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The bass conforms to traditional Jazz Bass specifications with a 34" scale and easily navigable 1 1/2" wide nut. The matching blue headstock features nickel clover button tuning machines that turn very smoothly and hold pitch well with very light surface patina. The "Made in Japan" text and JD13-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics work as intended, with individual Volume knobs for each pickup and a Master Tone control. Hardware includes the Leo Quan Badass II bridge, ensuring ideal sustain and resonance. The Transparent Blue gloss finish highlights the grain of the alder body, and cosmetic wear is limited to one small nick on the edge of the headstock, a similarly small ding just north of the P pickup, and just a couple additional minor marks on the body as a whole. The neck profile has a flawless gloss finish save for one nick on the bass-side shoulder behind fret 4.A gigbag is included.
