2013 Fender Jazz Bass Limited Edition Flame Koa w/ Gold Hardware, JB62, Japan MIJ

Up for sale, a 2013 Fender Jazz Bass Koa limited edition model in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A very rare model produced in a single run in '13, this Fender Japan Jazz Bass features a carved figured koa top and ash body, accented by a single-ply transparent plexi pickguard and gold hardware. Only available within Japan and virtually unseen outside its country of origin, this Jazz Bass has plenty of natural richness and sustain, weighing 11lbs. The bass offers plenty of punch, growl and upper midrange articulation and presence, and with the Tone knob rolled back to taste, the sound is broader and thumpier. The koa and ash tonewood pairing also yields a particularly detailed and layered midrange character. We've had this Jazz Bass professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret and .960" at the 12th. On the thick slab rosewood fretboard, the slender frets are flawless, playing cleanly up the 34" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2" in width, and the headstock features gold tuning machines with gleaming plating and a smooth, reliable response.The traditional electronics function flawlessly, and the hardware is notably clean including the top-loader bridge and trio of knurled knobs. The koa top is a thick, carved piece of this tonewood and not a simple veneer, with very tight curly flame figuring extending liberally across the top. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few light scuffs on the transparent pickguard, and a few light finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss, mostly relegated to the back. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.A gigbag is included.
