Up for sale, a 2013 Fender American Vintage '65 Jaguar in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and all hangtags and case candy. Offered for a few sparingly short years at the end of the original American Vintage run and now discontinued, the '65 American Vintage models are exquisitely well-made instruments, very faithful to their vintage forbearers. This particular Jaguar features a "Flash Coat" nitro lacquer Ice Blue Metallic finish complete with matching peghead, a rebranding of the Thin Skin concept in that the finish is pure, thin nitro without a poly sealer coat, ensuring optimal acoustic resonance.Tonewoods include an alder body, maple neck, and Indian rosewood fingerboard, yielding a clear, resonant natural acoustic tone. Plugged in, this Jag does everything a good Fender should, with plenty of twang and sparkle in the top end and the slightly aggressive chime and sinewy snarl that sets this model apart. The stock AV65 single coils are snappier, brighter, and more vintage-correct than previous Jaguar reissue pickup winds, and the guitar offers a balanced, sweet sound and great clarity for strummed passages and shimmering lead lines. Engage the Rhythm Circuit for even darker, meatier tones (great for use with fuzz pedals) or click on the "strangle" switch in the Lead Circuit for even thinner tic-tac sounds. Top it off with more chrome than a Cadillac and a flip up string mute and you have the model that was Fender's flagship guitar upon its introduction, with every bell and whistle Leo Fender and his team could think to include. Weighing 8lbs 5oz, we've had this Jaguar professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar (where we specialize in offset Fender instruments) with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with more shoulder and overall heft in the higher registers, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .975" at the 12th. On the extremely dark bound rosewood fretboard, the stock slender fretwire is flawless with its full factory height, playing cleanly up the 24" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The fretboard radius is 7 1/4", and the carved bone nut measures 1.650" in width. On the Ice Blue headstock, the Jaguar waterslide decal is immaculate and the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. All of the electronics work as intended, and the chrome control plates shine like new. The string mute engages easily and is also well out of the way of the strings when disengaged. The vibrato works extremely well for small surfy shimmies or deeper dives, jumping back to the original pitch with ease and setup so that there's proper break angle between the bridge and tailpiece for optimal stability and minimal string slippage.Cosmetically, the nitro lacquer "flash coat" finish is vibrant and glossy, essentially a rebranded version of Fender's Thin Skin finish alchemy. Ice Blue Metallic was a short-lived option, and cosmetic wear is limited to just a few scattered tiny nicks and faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless. The original black tolex hardshell case is included, along with all original hangtags and case candy.***We are dealers for the Mastery M1 bridge, OMV-P Offset Vibrato, and Lollar Jaguar pickups, any of which can be installed or included prior to shipment for an additional charge***
