Up for sale, a 2013 Fender American Vintage '59 Stratocaster in excellent condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case, case candy, and factory paperwork. This discontinued model features one of Fender's rarest custom colors, Sherwood Green, and this '59 Strat iteration was available only for a few short years. This guitar also benefits from Fender's redesign of the American Vintage line in the twilight years of that series with more vintage-correct hardware, redesigned pickups, new vintage-spec neck carves, and a particularly thin, resonant "flash coat" nitro lacquer finish, a rebranding by Fender of their Thin Skin concept. This Strat can chime, sparkle, and quack with the best, delivering an array of classic Fender tones. Whether it's the biting twang of the bridge position, the extra warmth and girth that comes from the neck single coil (ideal for lead work), or the thinned-out quack on the "in between" positions on the factory included five-way switch, this Strat is simply a delight to play. The instrument is very resonant acoustically as well, weighing 7lbs 11oz with an alder body. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Strat has been dialed in with 9-42 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a modestly slender C carve at the nut with appreciably more shoulder and heft as you travel up the fretboard, and lightly rolled fretboard edges for added comfort. The profile measures .825" deep at the 1st fret and .960" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features aged clay dot inlay, retaining a 7 1/4" vintage-spec Fender radius with original flawless slender frewire with its full factory height. The guitar plays easily in every register, the neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and ideally adjusted. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the Fender Stratocaster waterslide decal is flawless, and the Kluson-style single line tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The neck heel is stamped May, 2013 with the most vintage-correct neck stamp Fender has used since the 1960s.The electronics include the original trio of black bobbin Fender pickups with lightly beveled alnico pole pieces and cloth-covered leads, wired to original CTS pots which date to the 10th week of '13. The three pickup routes were very professionally deepened fractionally, presumably to accommodate stacked coil pickups. The pale mint green pickguard shows just a touch of scuffing on the treble side of the strum path, while the aged plastic parts are near mint. The chrome hardware shines like new, including the neck plate with V-prefix serial number. The vibrato works very smoothly with three springs and responds quickly and reliably for quick shimmies and deeper dives. The gloss nitro lacquer flash coat Sherwood Green finish was applied particularly thin so that the alder body would be as lively and resonant as possible, and the lacquer exhibits a few minor nicks and a singular scuff behind the bridge. There are a few minor marks on the body parameter, faint buckle rash at the edge of the belly contour, and a couple small finish chips adjacent to the rear strap button. The nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless save for one small nick on the bass-side shoulder behind fret 10.A brand new black tolex Fender hardshell case is included, along with the original hangtags and case candy.
