Up for sale, a 2013 Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass model AJB in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. A "Made in Japan" exclusive model not designed for export, this particular Aerodyne is rarely seen outside its country of origin, sporting a Factory Special Run (FSR) Lake Placid Blue finish.

Unique both visually and sonically, the Aerodyne combines a PJ pickup configuration and bound body with the sleek looks and comfortable 1 1/2" nut width of the Jazz Bass. The pickups offer both the ample thump and heft of a split coil Precision neck pickup and the midrange cut and articulation of a Jazz pickup at the bridge. This bass weighs 9lbs 4oz, benefitting from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 45-100 strings, comfortable action and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a moderately slender U-shaped profile carve at the nut, with full shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .975” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard is an extremely dark cut of this tonewood with a 7 1/4” radius and slender fretwire that has its full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing only a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-4. The bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 1 1/2” in width, and on the matching headstock, the clover-button tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and JD13-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics work as intended, with individual Volume knobs for each pickup and a Master Tone control. The chrome-plated hardware includes the bridge, control plate, and Strat-style knobs, all of which are bright and clean with minimal patina. Plastics comprise the multi-ply white pickguard.

The gloss Lake Placid Blue finish is particularly bright and saturated, framed on top by cream binding. Cosmetic wear includes some prominent finish scratches on the treble-side lower bout on the back, and a few additional minor marks and fainter scuffs on the body as a whole, largely relegated to the back and body perimeter. The satin finish on the neck profile is nigh-flawless.

An upgraded black tolex form-fit hardshell case is included.
