Up for sale, a 2013 Fender 60th Anniversary Classic Player 50s Stratocaster in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Complete with a tweed G&G Deluxe hardshell case and finished in gloss genuine nitro lacquer Desert Sand accented by an anodized gold pickguard, this discontinued limited run Strat boasts a trio of black bobbin American Vintage-series pickups.
This alder-bodied Strat has a balanced, clear acoustic tone and via the five-way pickup selector switch, the guitar offers a broad range of traditional Fender tonalities. The bridge pickup is sparkling and clear with plenty of cut, while the "in-between" settings deliver thinned-out cut and quack, with a neck pickup that has inherent warmth and smoothness. The guitar weighs 7lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The neck has a very soft V profile carve, measuring .860" deep at the 1st fret and .890" at the 12th. The maple fretboard boasts stock medium jumbo frets which have plenty of meat and their full factory height, playing cleanly in every register and showing only light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-4. The 9 1/2" modern fretboard radius ensures easy bending and effortless playability, and the neck is straight with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.650" in width, and the headstock is fitted with original gold Kluson-style locking tuning machines that hold pitch well even with liberal vibrato use. The back of the headstock has both a 60th Anniversary medallion (matching the embossed neck plate).
On the body, all of the factory electronics function as intended, with the trio of American Vintage series black bobbin pickups wired to full-size USA-made CTS pots with a traditional Stratocaster control array. The parchment plastics are in excellent shape, and the anodized gold pickguard evokes a 1959 aesthetic while also providing a perceptible increase in treble articulation and ensuring an optimal noise floor beyond the shielding provided with your usual plastic guard. The gold-plated two-point vibrato features six vintage-style Fender-branded saddles, actuating easily for deep dives and broad expressive gestures. The Desert Sand nitro lacquer gloss is a rarely used finish on any modern Fender, typically only seen on late '50s Fenders, and cosmetic wear is limited to a few small nicks on the lower bout body edge on top, and a few additional minor marks and faint finish scratches on the back. The deeply ambered neck profile gloss is flawless.
A Fender G&G Deluxe tweed hardshell case is included.
