Up for sale, a 2013 Collings OM2MRA Cutaway in near mint condition, upgraded with a K&K Trinity pickup system and complete with the original case and hangtag. One of the premier acoustic builders of the modern era, Collings instruments exude quality, passion, and precise craftsmanship in every aspect of their construction. This particular OM2MRA is no exception, and is an upscale iteration with a solid Adirondack spruce top, Pre-War scalloped X bracing, and solid Madagascar rosewood back and sides.

While Adirondack is the undisputed tonewood king when it comes to lively, dynamic and complex soundboards, Madagascar rosewood is prized for its similar qualities to Brazilian, both its tonal detail and breadth, but also its rich appearance, and it's less regulated nature makes it a perfect choice for premium builds. This guitar offers exquisite clarity, ample headroom and authority, and unparalleled string-to-string balance. Notes have an evenness and singing sustain that’s undiminished as you travel up the fingerboard. There’s a notable immediacy and sensitivity to pick attack, wound strings are both crisp and smooth, and while the low end holds together exceptionally well, there’s a subtle growl and sweetness in the lower midrange just below the surface. The ebony fingerboard ensures glassy treble detail, and this guitar shines when fingerpicked, with unencumbered access to the highest registers thanks to the cutaway design. This Collings OM2MRA Cutaway weights 4lbs 9oz, strung with 12-53 bronze strings and dialed in for optimal action.

The Honduran mahogany neck has Collings' Vintage Now neck profile carve, which has a hair more shoulder and overall heft than many of Collings’ neck shapes, offering ideal substance and effortless playability, measuring .845" deep at the 1st fret and .960" at the 9th. The ebony fretboard has slender frets which show notable grooves beneath the B and High E strings on frets 1-3, with wear growing dramatically lighter until fret 5 and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the carved bone nut measures 1 3/4" in width. The peghead veneer is a high gloss stained exotic ebony, with the Collings logo cleanly inlaid in mother of pearl. The nickel Waverly tuners are also present with flawless plating and a very smooth 16:1 ratio.

On the body, subtle accents include a small teardrop tortoise pickguard, impeccable multi-ply binding around the perimeter of the top, and a zipper back strip. The ebony bridge features a bone compensated saddle with ample height. Visible through the soundhole, the Collings label has the OM2MRAVNCut designation (noting the model, tonewoods, neck shape and cutaway design) and is signed by Bill Collings. The K&K Trinity is a dual source system combining a soundhole mic with a trio of sensors on the underside of the top. Cosmetically, this guitar is exceedingly clean, exhibiting just a few extremely minor marks and a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the high gloss, and some slight strap-related discoloration on the ivoroid strip on either side of the 1/4” endpin jack. A strap button has also been added to the treble side of the neck heel.

The original hardshell case is included, along with the factory paperwork.
