Up for sale, a 2012 Tokai Jazz Sound model electric bass in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Designed to replicate the look and tonal properties of Fender's pioneering Jazz Bass model, this Tokai has a traditional tonewood complement with a solid ash body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard.

A Deluxe iteration of the Jazz Sound platform, this bass features a 22 fret slab rosewood fretboard, modern heavy-duty top-loader bridge and a versatile control array boasting both active and passive circuitry. The controls include a Master Volume, center detent pickup Blend knob, and a passive push/pull Tone knob. When pulled, the bass operates with a passive EQ, and with the knob pushed, the two-band stacked active Bass/Treble knobs are engaged, both center detent to cut or boost frequencies as needed for a particularly broad tonal range. The J-style single coils deliver plenty of richness and articulation. The bridge pickup has an upper midrange burp, while the neck position coil can be broad and smooth with the Tone controls rolled back to taste. The bass weighs 10lbs, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action, 45-100 roundwound strings, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .960” at the 12th. The bass adheres to traditional Fender-centric specs with a 1 1/2" wide carved bone nut and full 34" scale, while the thick slab 22 fret fretboard has a modern 10” radius. The medium jumbo frets are flawless, playing cleanly in every register, and the neck is straight with an ideally adjusted truss rod. On the headstock, the original clover button tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The peghead sports a Tokai Jazz Sound logo with smaller "Oldies but Goodies" text, as well as a round string tree.

All of the electronics work as they should, with a Master Volume, center detent pickup Blend knob, a passive push/pull Tone knob, and stacked Treble/Bass active EQ. There is light patina on the pickup pole pieces, and bright chrome plating on the heavy-duty top-loader bridge. The control cavity is also shielded for an ideal noise floor. The subty transparent Blonde finish highlights the grain of the ash body, accented by a brown tortoise pickguard with easy access to the truss rod at the neck heel. Cosmetic wear is limited to some scattered light finish scratches and minor dings, largely relegated to the back and body perimeter, while the neck profile retains its smooth gloss finish.

A gigbag is included.
