Up for sale, a 2012 Andersen Vanguard “Double Top” in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Legendary Pacific Northwest master luthier Steve Andersen has achieved a formidable reputation for unmatched craftsmanship over his almost 50 year career, first for his flattops and mandolins and later for his premier archtops, championed by the likes of Bill Frisell. This Vanguard model features stunning fiddleback flame maple with “double top” construction, Waverly tuning machines, and a Lollar Novel CC Charlie Christian single coil pickup.
This Vanguard’s body is 16” wide, and its “double top” construction is a hallmark of classical guitar luthiery. Uncommon on an archtop, this technique features two thin pieces of wood sandwiched around a core of Nomex, an ultralight polymer, resulting in an instrument with prodigious acoustic properties, fantastically lightweight at just 5lbs 2oz. The lively soundboard is paired with solid fiddleback flame maple back and sides and a flame maple neck and ebony fingerboard.
The generous acoustic properties of the instrument provide an ideal platform for the Lollar Novel CC single coil pickup, fitting Jason Lollar’s Charlie Christian design into a standard-sized humbucker route. This pickup delivers classic jazz-ready tones with exquisite detail and a glassy bounce that ensures the densest chord voicings ring out clearly. This Andersen Vanguard benefits from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 flatwound strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The lacquer gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
The original black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the original bridge.
