Up for sale, a 2012 Martin 000-42ECJ Eric Clapton Jubilee Custom Edition in collector-grade, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtags. A rare iteration of Martin’s most enduringly popular artist model limited to just 55 pieces worldwide, this Custom Signature Edition Series iteration of the 000 platform was released to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Clapton’s iconic performance at the Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee (50th coronation anniversary) in 2002, featuring premium cosmetic appointments, construction, and tonewoods.
This 000-42ECJ features an X-braced (Golden Era-style scalloped) Sitka spruce top, East Indian rosewood back/sides, mahogany neck with Martin’s Modified V neck profile, and bound ebony fingerboard and bridge. Crisp, clear, and articulate, this is a wonderfully lively instrument with an immediate, blooming chime; the bass register is taut and clear, while the plain strings have a round, singing quality with plenty of treble sparkle. The midrange character is sweet and articulate, ideal for fingerpicking applications, with an overall even-tempered tonal profile and exceptional string-to-string balance. Weighing 4lbs 1oz, this 000-42ECJ has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
