Up for sale, a 2012 Ibanez J Custom model RG8570Z electric guitar in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags, COA, and hardshell case. J Custom guitars are crafted by master luthiers at the famed FujiGen factory in Japan, with very small production numbers, select woods, and exquisite attention to detail.

This upscale RG model features a gloss Black Onyx finish on the bookmatched flame maple top over an African mahogany body. The bolt-on maple/walnut five-piece RG J Custom neck is titanium reinforced with flame maple binding on the slab rosewood fretboard and abalone Tree of Life inlay. Premium performance specs include special fret edge treatment, “Velvetouch” finish on the profile, and Ibanez's AANJ (All Access Neck Joint) for an effortless playing experience. The guitar is loaded with the stock DiMarzio HSH pickup array, with an Air Norton neck position humbucker, Tone Zone bridge pickup, and True Velvet single coil in the middle.

Governed by a five-way pickup selector switch, the neck pickup is deep, warm, and clear with rich harmonics, while the bridge position Tone Zone has a wide dynamic range. Hard picking will produce a lot of power, and softer picking will be much cleaner and quieter. The Tone Zone has tremendous bass and low-mid response, and the highest single notes have great depth and definition. The True Velvet single coil blends well with the humbuckers, adding a sweet chime and traditional sparkle. Balancing well on a strap at 9lbs 4oz, this J Custom has been professionally setup here at Mike and Mike’s Guitar Bar with 9-42 strings, accurate intonation and fast action.

The five-piece flame maple neck with walnut stringers has an "RG J Custom" neck shape, and this very slender D profile carve has full shoulders, measuring .695” deep at the 1st fret and .765” at the 12th. The bound slab rosewood fretboard has a 24 fret range with tree of life inlay, flame maple binding, and stock jumbo fretwire which shows just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5. The guitar plays effortlessly in every register up the straight neck with an ideally adjusted and responsive truss rod. The scale length is a full 25 1/2”, and the locking nut measures a spacious 43mm (1.693") in width, ensuring optimal tuning stability even with heavy vibrato use. The headstock features a matching Black Onyx-finished flame maple veneer with Ibanez J Custom inlay and stock black Gotoh tuners that turn smoothly.

The body has a simple and sleek control layout, with a five-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The stock Edge Zero tremolo w/ ZPS3 stabilizer was designed by Ibanez to provide the fast vibrato response and snap needed to pull off sharp bends and flutters, all while providing excellent tuning stability. The Cosmo Black hardware shows light surface patina on the bass side of the bridge, with a small amount of surface rust on the pickup pole pieces.

The transparent Black Onyx finish highlights the bookmatched AAA figured maple top, and cosmetic wear includes one finish chip through the gloss clear coat on the headstock face adjacent to the G tuner post, and a couple much smaller nicks on the binding edges on top. There are some scattered small scuffs in the clear coat on the back, and a small spot of light buckle rash between the neck bolts and tremolo cavity cover, as well as finish chips along the back body edge and some requisite pick wear on the treble side of the strum path. The neck profile features a clean satin “Velvetouch” finish that is exceptionally smooth.

The original hardshell case is included, and the case does have a slightly smokey smell. The hangtags, case candy, and COA are also included.
