Up for sale, a 2012 Gibson SJ-200 Standard jumbo acoustic guitar in perfect working order, finished in an uncommon Ebony gloss and complete with the original hardshell case. Faithful to '50s spec, this Gibson boasts a solid Sitka spruce top with traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing, paired with solid maple back and sides. The model described by Gibson as "King of the Flat-tops" is truly an impressive instrument both visually and sonically, and few acoustic instruments can match the sheer projection and power of an SJ-200. With a lower bout that's 17" in width, and a body depth of over 4 1/2", the tone is defined and clear, taking full advantage of the articulate top end snap of maple and the balanced tone of a solid spruce soundboard. The instrument has a smooth, authoritative sound, more relaxed and open-sounding than a brand new Jumbo, delivering sparkling treble detail matched by cavernous low end muscle. Weighing 5lbs 3oz, this SJ-200 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with bronze 12-53 strings and easy-playing action. The two-piece maple neck with walnut center strip has a fast-feeling slender C shaped profile carve with just enough roundness in the shoulders, measuring .835" deep at the 1st fret and .899" at the 9th. The bound rosewood fretboard features graduated crown inlays and original slender frets which have their full factory height and well-rounded crowns, showing moderate wear beneath the B and High E strings on frets 1-3, with fainter wear extending beneath those strings until fret 6. The scale length is 25 1/2“, and the nut measures 1.725" in width, ideal for comfortable chording and fingerstyle playing if desired. The bound headstock features the Gibson logo and crown inlaid in pearl, along with the original set of gold Grover Rotomatic tuning machines. The treble-side headstock wing shows some chipping along the seam which is entirely aesthetic. On the body, the guitar features the open moustache rosewood bridge that defines the look of a true Gibson jumbo. The compensated saddle has ample height, and the bridge pins are accented by pearl inlay. The tortoise pickguard is a modern replacement. The Fishman Ellipse Aura preamp allows for easy and accurate replication of an instrument's sound as mic'd in a professional studio. Players can load up to four Aura Images into this intuitive, discreetly mounted soundhole-mounted preamp. The ergonomic design of the Ellipse Aura puts slider controls at the player’s fingertips, helping to maintain a natural playing position. The Ellipse Aura features Pickup/Image Blend controls, Volume and switchable Natural I and Natural II Low Frequency toneshaping, a Phase Switch, and automatic Anti-Feedback control. The Ebony gloss nitro lacquer finish has one small repaired split adjacent to the multi-ply binding on the bass-side lower bout, with an area of targeted finish touchup, presenting fractionally more glossy than the surrounding lacquer. Cosmetic wear is otherwise limited to some small dings clustered on the bass-side upper bout on top, and some additional finish scratches and minor dings on the body as a whole. The gloss nitro lacquer finish is clean and smooth on the profile length. The original hardshell case is included.
