Up for sale, a 2012 Fender Telecaster Custom model TL62/QT in showroom-clean condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original padded gigbag. This rare and discontinued “Made in Japan” Telecaster features an eye-catching, highly-figured bookmatched quilted maple top on a double bound alder body, finished in a Transparent Blue gloss.

Acoustically, this guitar has a strong natural resonance and chime, faithfully captured by the stock pair of single coil pickups. The pickups deliver a range of classic Tele tonalities, with snappy twang and bite in the bridge position; smooth, harmonically-rich sounds at the neck; and percussive cut and fullness with both engaged. This Telecaster weighs 7lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .935” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a 7 1/4“ radius and pristine stock slender fretwire, playing cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width, carved from bone for optimal sustain and note clarity. On the headstock, the Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and JD12-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups wired to the stock harness and governed by a three-way selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls. The chrome-plated control plate and flat-topped knurled knobs are notably clean, as is the “Pat. Pend” bridge base, with a very light dusting of surface patina on the vintage-style spiral saddles. Plastics comprise the top hat switch tip and one-ply white pearloid pickguard.

The gloss Transparent Blue finish is framed on top and back by cream binding and highlights the deep, dimensional wall-to-wall figuring across the bookmatched quilted maple top. This is an exceedingly well-kept Tele, with cosmetic wear limited to just a scant few faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is pristine and highlights subtle figuring in the maple.

The original Fender-branded padded gigbag is included.
