Up for sale, a 2012 Fender Telecaster Custom ‘62 vintage reissue model TL62B in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, upgraded with a Bigsby B5 vibrato and Fender G&G Deluxe hardshell case. This "Made in Japan" Telecaster is a rare, discontinued model produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, featuring a gloss Ice Blue Metallic finish framed by ivory top and back binding. It delivers classic Tele chewy twang and cut, with a shimmering snap in the bridge position and a smooth, round-sounding neck pickup with a bell-like chime. This alder-bodied Tele weighs 8lbs 10oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders in every register and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .820” deep at the 1st fret and .905” at the 12th. The slab rosewood fretboard boasts Fender's traditional 7 1/4" fretboard radius, with original slender fretwire that retains its full factory height, showing light wear on the crowns beneath the plain strings on frets 1-11. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut is a carved piece of bone, measuring 42.5mm in width (1.675"). On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The U-prefix serial number and "Made in Japan" text is present above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the original electronics work as they should, with a three-way pickup selector and Master Volume and Tone knobs governing the stock pickup pair. Hardware consists of the gleaming chrome-plated flat-topped knobs and control plate, and the upgraded USA-made Bigsby B5F vibrato is smooth and responsive for surfy shimmies and warbles. The original "Pat. Pending" bridge with finely grooved spiral saddles, consistent with 1962 Fender spec, is present in the case. A three-ply parchment pickguard rounds out the plastics.
The gloss Ice Blue Metallic finish is exceedingly well-kept, and according to the serialized hangtag, Fender Japan is categorizing this custom color as "OTM" (Ocean Turquoise), although it's far too icy and blue a shade to qualify as such based on Fender's vintage custom color chart. The guitar shows just a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the body as a whole, while the ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
A Fender G&G Deluxe black tolex hardshell case is included, along with the original serialized hangtags and bridge.
