Up for sale, a 2012 Fender Telecaster Custom '62 vintage reissue model TL62B-BIGS in exceptional condition and in perfect working order, upgraded with USA-made Fender black bobbin pickups and complete with the original serialized hangtag. This Tele features a genuine, factory-installed USA-made Fender-branded Bigsby B5F vibrato, and the guitar boasts a custom color Ice Blue Metallic gloss finish.
This "Made in Japan" Telecaster is a rare, discontinued model, meant only for the Japanese domestic market and very rarely seen outside its country of origin. Via the pair of upgraded Fender American Vintage '52 Tele pickups, the guitar delivers classic Tele chewy twang and cut, with a shimmering snap in the bridge position and a smooth, round-sounding neck pickup with a bell-like chime. This alder-bodied Tele weighs 8lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .815” deep at the 1st fret and .915” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard boasts Fender's traditional 7 1/4" fretboard radius, with original slender fretwire that retains its full factory height and perfectly rounded crowns, showing just a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3. The guitar plays easily in every register up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The scale length is 25 1/2", and the bone nut measures 42.5mm in width (1.675"). On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The JD12-prefix serial number and "Made in Japan" text is present above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics work as they should, with a three-way pickup selector toggle and Master Volume and Tone knobs governing the upgraded Fender American Vintage '52 pickup pair. The chrome-plated hardware is positively gleaming on the bridge, control plate, and pair of knurled knobs, and the USA-made Bigsby vibrato works quite well for warbles and dives with a smooth response, jumping back to the original pitch with ease. The Ice Blue Metallic finish is accented by a pale mint green pickguard, and cosmetic wear is limited to a few pinhead sized marks on the body as a while, and a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss, largely relegated to the back. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded padded gigbag is included, along with the original serialized hangtag and manual.
