Up for sale, a 2012 Fender Jazzmaster model JM66/CO in exceptional condition and in perfect working order. This rare, discontinued Fender Japan exclusive "Competition" model features the racing stripe most commonly associated with Fender's Mustang models, along with a sleek gloss Black finish.
This Jazzmaster has a range of clear, defined sounds, and the Lead Circuit has a snappy, chiming quality with a trio of distinct tonalities on the three-way pickup selector switch. Toggling to the Rhythm Circuit on the bass side body horn yields a bigger, broader sound, with a capacitor to darken up the neck pickup, perfect for thick sounds that work well with your favorite fuzz or low wattage tube amp. At 7lbs 8oz, this is a lightweight Jazzmaster with a naturally resonant and snappy tone. Setup to perfection here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jazzmaster is dialed in and ready for the stage and studio with fresh 11-49 strings.
The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with moderate shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .820" deep at the 1st fret, graduating to .895" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard has a vintage spec 7 1/4" radius, with original slender frets that retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing virtually no wear. The scale length is a full 25 1/2", and the guitar plays cleanly in every register with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The bone nut measures 1.650" in width (42mm). The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Made in Japan" designation and JD12-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics work as they should, and the wiring and pickups are stock. Hardware includes the bridge with threaded saddles, working in concert with the vibrato unit for surfy warbles and dives. The chrome plating on the hardware is notably clean, and plastics include the white pearloid pickguard and bright, unaged pickup covers and knobs. The gloss Black finish is very well-kept, with cosmetic wear limited to a tiny spot of faint buckle wear just south of the belly contour, and a few minor finish scratches and dings on the body as a whole. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
A padded gigbag is included.
