Up for sale, a 2012 Fender Jazzmaster model JM66G in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This ultra-rare “Made in Japan” Jazzmaster is a non-catalog, limited edition model, with purportedly only 30 instruments produced to celebrate the 30th year of Fender Japan production. It sports a unique tonewood complement that hearkens back to the original 1958 Jazzmaster prototypes, with a one-piece maple neck and ash body, finished in Blonde and accented by a gold anodized pickguard and gold-plated hardware.

Weighing 8lbs 2oz, the ash body and maple neck yield a resonant, articulate acoustic response with a certain woody, midrange-forward cut faithfully captured by the stock pickup complement. The instrument has plenty of sparkle on tap, with a range of defined and powerful tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. This JM66G has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with prominent shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .820” deep at the 1st fret and .900” at the 12th. The fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire exhibits wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-13 that becomes progressively lighter approaching the octave. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the headstock, the gold Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and JD12-prefix serial are present above the gold four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics function as they should, and the gold-plated hardware shows moderate patina on the bridge and vibrato unit. The vibrato functions smoothly, and the anodized gold pickguard ensures ideal shielding for the single coils. Plastics include uniformly aged pickup covers and knobs.

Cosmetic wear includes one sizable finish chip the lower bout perimeter adjacent to the rear strap button, some light buckle rash central to the back, and just a scant few tiny marks on the body as a whole. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.

The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
