Up for sale, a 2012 Fender Jazz Bass '62 reissue fretless model JB62-FL in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Made exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this model captures the feel and look of Jaco Pastorious' famed J Bass. Finely crafted by Fender Japan, the JB62-FL model has a host of premium features including USA-made pickups, an alder body, a lined slab rosewood fretboard and vintage-spec tuners and bridge saddles.

The bass delivers sweet growl and upper midrange burp via the two USA Fender alnico magnet single coil pickups. The sound has plenty of breadth and thump with the Tone knob rolled back and the neck pickup favored, or dial up the bridge pickup for a more aggression, presence, and treble articulation. The bass balances well on a strap and weighs 8lbs 13oz. We've had this Jazz Bass professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action and 40-95 groundwound strings.

The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with nicely rounded shoulders in every register, measuring .800" deep just beyond the nut and .980" at the octave. Side dots and a lined fretboard ensure pitch accuracy, and the slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage spec 7 1/4" radius. The bass plays easily up the 34" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut has the traditional 1 1/2" J Bass width. On the headstock, the bass features a set of vintage-style nickel-plated tuning machines with long shafts, clover buttons, and and just a hint of surface patina. The "Made in Japan" text and JD12-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

The electronics function as intended, including the factory-installed pair of Fender USA pickups governed by a traditional Volume/Volume/Tone control array. The chrome plating on the control plate and bridge with spiral saddles shines like new, and the plastic parts are near mint. The three-tone Sunburst finish is accurate to vintage-spec with a burst that is only two-tone beneath the area where you'd typically see a pickguard. Cosmetic wear is limited to a bit of light scuffing on the back lower bout body edge and a couple tiny nicks on the body perimeter. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.

A gigbag is included.
