2012 Fender American Vintage '64 Jazz Bass Black Near Mint w/ Case

Up for sale, a 2012 Fender American Vintage '64 Jazz Bass reissue in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order with the original G&G hardshell case. An example of the uncommon second generation of the AVRI Jazz Bass platform released in '12, retooled to be even more vintage accurate than its predecessors, the later American Vintage series Jazz Basses were a relatively short lived offering from Fender before the line was officially retired.Boasting a stunning Black gloss nitro lacquer finish, this bass truly looks and sounds the part of the genuine vintage article. The tone is equal parts low end warmth and midrange cut, with the smooth growl and upper midrange burp of the bridge pickup blending well with the fullness and thump of the neck position single coil. Combined, the two pickups produce an array of sounds appropriate for virtually any live or recording situation. The bass balances well on a strap and weighs 9lbs 8oz, professionally dialed in here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.The maple neck has a medium depth U-shaped profile carve with full shoulders in every register, notable roundness as you travel up the fretboard, and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and 1.015" at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard sports clay dot inlay and the frets are flawless with perfect crowns. The neck is straight, the truss rod is responsive, and the bass plays well in all registers. On the headstock, the nickel-plated vintage spec reverse gear tuning machines turn very smoothly and hold pitch well.All of the electronics work flawlessly and the chrome hardware shines like new, including the pair of "ashtray" bridge and pickup covers. Cosmetic wear is limited to a few small dings and scuffs on the body perimeter, with one tiny finish chip adjacent to the neck plate on the treble side. There are a few faint additional finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss on the back, while the natural gloss on the neck profile is flawless.The original G&G Deluxe black tolex hardshell case is included.
