Up for sale, a 2012 Fender 50th Anniversary Jaguar in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hangtags and G&G Deluxe hardshell case. A limited run USA-made model that paralleled the American Vintage line of instruments, the 50th Anniversary Jaguar boasted a few player friendly and aesthetic tweaks including medium jumbo fretwire on a 9 1/2" radius rosewood fretboard, cream fretboard binding and block inlay, a repositioned vibrato unit for increased break angle, and a pair of "hot" Jaguar pickups. The alder body is finished in a thin nitro lacquer "flash coat" of Fender's perennial favorite custom color, Lake Placid Blue, and alder offers a lively, clear acoustic voice that translates well through the pickups. The pickups offer a bit more meat and warmth than a traditional Jag, given the slightly hotter wind which delivers more midrange character and slightly increased output. There's plenty of traditional chime and cut on tap as well, with more spanky sounds available when the low cut "strangle" switch is engaged, and thicker woof when toggling to the Rhythm Circuit on the lower body horn. This Jaguar weighs 8lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and ideal substance, measuring .830" deep at the 1st fret and .915" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid block inlay (echoing specs introduced on the Jaguar in 1966), with a modern 9 1/2" radius and original medium jumbo fretwire that has plenty of meat, showing light wear primarily beneath the plain strings on frets 1-5 and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1.650" in width, and the headstock features a clean Jaguar waterslide decal and Kluson-style tuning machines that turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The neck pocket on the 50th Anniversary model is also angled one degree further back, eschewing the extra shims often needed on Jaguars for better connection between the neck and body. The electronics all function as intended, and the chrome plating on the hardware is positively gleaming, including the original bridge cover and 50th Anniversary-embossed neck plate. The vibrato engages easily, positioned closer to the bridge for increased break angle, putting more downward pressure on the bridge saddles and increasing stability and sustain. Plastics include the original knob pair and mint green pickguard. Cosmetic wear on the nitro lacquer Lake Placid Blue gloss finish includes scattered finish chips on the body perimeter (common with Fender's thinner flash coat lacquer finishes), and a few additional finish scuffs and minor nicks, also mostly relegated to the body edges. The neck profile retains its smooth, lightly ambered nitro gloss with no palm wear. The original brown G&G Deluxe hardshell case is included with modest wear on the exterior, retaining the original latches and handle. All original hangtags are also included.
