Up for sale, a 2012 ESP Edwards model E-CY-165CTM in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original padded ESP gigbag. This premium ESP-made offering was produced under the Edwards banner exclusively for the Japanese domestic market. A visually stunning instrument with no expense spared in terms of tonewoods and premium cosmetic appointments, this E-CY-165CTM sounds as good as it looks, outfitted with the stock pair of Seymour Duncan pickups.

This Edwards features neck-through construction with a seven-ply maple/walnut neck, ash body wings, a premium AAA quilted maple top, and a slab ebony fretboard, resulting in an articulate and resonant acoustic profile that is faithfully captured by the stock pair of Seymour Duncan pickups. The neck pickup is an SCR-1n Cool Rails single coil-sized humbucker, delivering a full, round sound with plenty of low end warmth and a subtle mid scoop for optimal clarity. Additionally, the dual-blade design lends itself to fat, crisp solos. The bridge pickup is a TB-5 Custom Trembucker, the so-called “P.A.F. on steroids” with a powerful, punchy upper/midrange forward bite. This guitar weighs 8lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation.

The seven-piece maple/walnut neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulder in all registers (verging on a D shape), measuring .845” deep at the 1st fret and .920” at the 12th. The genuine slab ebony fretboard features a tree of life pearl/abalone inlay, framed by abalone and additional multi-ply binding. The fretboard has a 12” radius with 27 frets, and the stock jumbo fretwire is practically perfect. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The locking nut measures 1.650” in width. The reverse headstock sports a matching quilted maple veneer and abalone binding, with gold Gotoh tuners that turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch.

All of the electronics work as intended, with the pickups wired to full-size 500k Japanese pots and governed by a three-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone controls. Gold hardware includes the genuine Floyd Rose tremolo and dome-top knurled knobs, which display light surface patina. The Floyd Rose double locking tremolo system is ideal for sharp flutters and deep divebombs with exceptional stability.

The gloss Black Aqua (Transparent Blue) finish highlights the deep, dimensional figuring in the bookmatched quilted maple top, framed once again by abalone binding. Cosmetic wear on the finish is limited to some light scuffing along the strum path, a handful of pinhead-sized dings on the lower bout on top, and light wear on the back at the treble-side waist, shy of “buckle rash.” There is also a small finish chip on the binding edge adjacent to the forward strap button. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is immaculate and feels lightning fast in the palm.

The original padded ESP gigbag is included. The pull tabs on the zippers have broken off, but they are still entirely functional.
