Up for sale, a 2011 Martin Standard Series D-35 in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original molded hardshell case. This modern iteration of Martin’s beloved D-35 platform features an X-braced Sitka spruce top, East Indian rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck, and a bound ebony fingerboard.
Unique to the D-35 among Martin's dreadnought body guitars, the instrument features lighter 1/4" bracing, as opposed to the 5/16" bracing seen on its counterpart, the D-28. This feature, combined with the D-35's unique three-piece rosewood back, delivers a sound that is notably lively. The guitar has plenty of muscular depth and projection, yet with a relaxed, open quality befitting a top that’s had some time to open up. The tone has an overarching clarity and treble chime, with a dynamic cut and bold, round low strings that have a high volume ceiling when hit hard with a flat pick. This Standard Series D-35 weighs 4lbs 12oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 12-53 bronze strings and easy-playing action.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Mahogany
-Shape: Low Oval, measuring .835” 1st fret, .880” 9th fret
-Fretboard: Ebony, dot inlays
-Frets: Medium, faint wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-2
-Scale Length: 25.4”
-Nut: 1 11/16”, bone
-Tuners: Grover Rotomatic
Body Specs:
-Wood: Sitka spruce, East Indian rosewood
-Bracing: X
-Bridge: Ebony, compensated bone saddle, upgraded bridge pins (abalone dot)
-Marquetry: Multi-ply purfling and rosette
-Serialization: Stamp on heel block dates to 2011
Extremely well-kept since new and crack-free, there are just a few finish scratches in the clear coat on the body and a small binding repair on top at the bass-side lower bout. A strap button has been added to the neck heel, and the neck profile is flawless save for one shallow nick behind fret 8.
The original molded hardshell case is included.
