Up for sale, a 2011 Gibson SG Special 60s Tribute model in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. A long ago discontinued limited run model, this SG has all the hallmarks of its vintage brethren, with a mahogany body and neck, slim taper '60s neck profile, alnico magnet P-90 pickups, and a loud, authoritative bark when strummed acoustically. The natural acoustic properties of the instrument translate well through the pickups with great growl and sustain as well as the dynamic, glassy quality central to the tone of a P-90. Featherweight at 6lbs 8oz, this SG Special has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with low action, accurate intonation, and 10-46 strings.
The one-piece mahogany neck has a slender '60s C-shaped profile with round shoulders in every register, measuring .815" deep at the 1st fret and .885" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard retains the stock vintage-style frets which have plenty of height and well-rounded crowns, showing only very light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-7. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16" width, and the headstock features Gibson Deluxe tuning machines with greened keystone buttons.
All of the electronics are original, the chrome plated hardware is bright and clean save for some light patina on the bridge saddles, and all original plastics are intact including black bonnet knobs and a single-ply pickguard. The Worn White satin nitro lacquer finish exhibits some small chips on the body perimeter, mostly on the back lower bout edge, along with a small spot of light buckle rash at the treble-side waist, and a few additional minor marks on the body as a whole. The satin finish on the neck profile is clean and smooth.
The original Gibson-branded padded gigbag is included.
