Up for sale, a 2011 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62-TX/MH in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original gigbag and hangtags. This “Made in Japan” Strat is an upscale, discontinued model, uncommon outside of its country of origin, featuring a trio of USA-made black bobbin Texas Special pickups and a Jupiter Blue finish with a matching headstock.
Featuring a traditional tonewood complement of an alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, this Strat has a balanced and immediate natural acoustic response. At the heart of this model is the trio of USA-made Fender Custom Shop Texas Special black bobbin single coils, delivering classic Stratocaster sparkle and cut with additional output and midrange heft. The bridge pickup has a snappy, aggressive snap, the neck pickup is smooth and broad, and the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch offer quintessential hollow Strat quack. This ST62-TX/MH weighs 8lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .855” deep at the 1st fret and .940” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the slender fretwire exhibits a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-5. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the matching headstock, the Kluson-style tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and U-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.
The electronics function as intended, with the Fender USA Custom Shop Texas Special pickups governed by a five-way selector switch and standard Volume/Tone/Tone control configuration. Plastics comprise the bright white three-ply pickguard and cream pickup covers and knobs. The chrome-plated hardware includes the jack cup and vibrato which actuates smoothly and has a full size block, complete with its original arm.
The gloss Jupiter Blue finish has a rich, purplish hue, and cosmetic wear is limited to just a handful of tiny nicks and faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is pristine.
The original Fender-branded padded gigbag is included, along with the hangtags.
