Up for sale, a 2011 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This “Made in Japan” model was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, uncommon outside of its country of origin.Featuring a tonewood complement of a basswood body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, this Strat has a lively, chiming acoustic profile, and the trio of alnico magnet single coil pickups deliver a bevy of traditional Strat tonalities. The bright pickup has ample sparkle and midrange-focused cut, the neck pickup has a bell-like fullness and a throaty quality, and there’s quintessential hollow Strat quack at the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch. This Strat weighs 8lbs 3oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation. The maple neck has a moderately slender C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .915” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard is a notably dark cut with a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the stock slender fretwire retains its full factory height and well-rounded crowns, exhibiting only a touch of wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-5. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the original bone nut measures 1.650” (42mm) in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. The “Made in Japan” text and U-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate. All of the electronics function as intended, with the alnico magnet pickups wired to the stock harness. The chrome-plated hardware all shines like new, including the jack cup and vibrato which actuates smoothly and bounces quickly back to pitch, perfect for surfy warbles and deeper dives. Plastics comprise cream pickup covers and knobs paired with a three-ply parchment pickguard, which has some requisite scuffing on the treble side of the strum path.Cosmetic wear on the gloss Olympic White finish is limited to a few finish scratches on the lower bout (both on the top and back) and a scant few additional minor marks on the body as a whole. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.A gigbag is included.
