2011 Fender Stratocaster '57 Vintage Reissue ST57 Candy Apple Red, Japan MIJ

+ shipping

Up for sale, a 2011 Fender Stratocaster ‘57 vintage reissue model ST57 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Produced in Japan exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this guitar is uncommon outside its country of origin. With a basswood body and one-piece maple neck, this Strat has a bright, balanced acoustic tone, providing a great platform for the stock trio of ceramic magnet single coil pickups. The pickups have a clear sound with plenty of punch and more top-end snap than most alnico magnet varieties; a bit fuller at the neck, a bit more aggressive at the bridge. Weighing 7lbs 7oz, this Strat has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with fresh 10-46 strings, low action and spot-on intonation.

The one-piece maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with well-rounded shoulders in every register, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .930” at the 12th. The maple fretboard has a vintage spec 7 1/4" radius with original slender frets that show virtually no wear. This guitar plays cleanly in all registers up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42.5mm (1.675") in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and U-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All the electronics work as intended, with a five-way pickup selector switch and Volume/Tone/Tone control array. The vibrato has a large block for great sustain, and the unit is very responsive for smooth surfy warbles and deeper dives, jumping back into tune with ease. The chrome hardware has plenty of shine on the bridge base, with patina across the bridge saddles. Plastics include the one-ply white pickguard and original trio of knobs. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Candy Apple Red finish is limited to a handful of light scratches in the clear coat and a few minuscule dings along the lower bout body edge. The smooth gloss finish on the neck profile is immaculate.

A gigbag is included.
