Up for sale, a 2010 Fender Mustang ‘65 vintage reissue model MG65 in showroom-clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with hangtags. Easily one of the best Mustangs ever offered by Fender, the MG65 is a discontinued, upper tier model, designed for the Japanese domestic market and uncommon outside its country of origin. The MG65 features USA-spec CTS pots, vintage spec gray bobbin pickups with cloth-covered leads, and Schaller-made Fender "F" tuners. The tonewood complement is also faithful to 1960s Fender spec, with a slab poplar body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard.
The pair of gray bobbin pickups can chime with the best, delivering a detailed sound that has sparkle and kick. The three-way on/off/on pickup switches can also produce the Mustang's signature cutting out-of-phase sound when in their innermost or outermost positions. Weighing 7lbs 14oz, this Mustang has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Medium C, full shoulders, measuring .835” 1st fret, .935” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood slab, 7 1/4” vintage-spec radius
-Frets: Slender, no wear
-Scale Length: 24”
-Nut: 1 5/8”, bone
-Tuners: Schaller-made F Tuners
-Serialization: “Made in Japan,” U-prefix
Body Specs:
-Wood: Poplar
-Pickups: Gray bobbin single coil x2
-Harness: CTS 250k pots, source date codes from 2009-2010
-Controls: Volume, Tone, On/Off/On pickup switch x2
-Hardware: Vibrato, bridge with barrel saddles
-Plastics: Three-ply white pearloid pickguard, pointer knobs
The Daphne Blue gloss finish (as verified by the serialized hangtag) veers more towards Sonic Blue in its tint and saturation, and there's barely a scratch on the body. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is similarly flawless.
A gigbag is included, along with the Fender Japan manual and serialized hangtag (dating to the 23rd year of the Hesei era, 2011)
