Up for sale, a 2011 Fender Mark Knopfler Artist Series Stratocaster in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original G&G hardshell case, hangtags, and case candy. This Dire Straits icon’s signature Strat is a discontinued model with a gloss Hot Rod Red nitro lacquer finish, ‘57-style ash body paired with a “vintage tinted” ‘62-style neck, and a trio of Custom Shop Texas Special single coil pickups.
Featherweight at 6lbs 15oz, this Strat is lively and resonant acoustically, offering the complex midrange character and note detail of ash as a tonewood. The Custom Shop Fender Texas Special single coils match vintage spec with black fiber bobbins, cloth-covered leads and staggered, unbeveled alnico pole pieces, delivering a bevy of sparkling classic Strat tonalities with a slightly aggressive overwound snap. The bridge is rich and snappy, the neck has a full, bell-like chime, and the “in-between” positions yield a hollow spank. This Knopfler Stratocaster has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.

The gloss Hot Rod Red nitro lacquer finish was shot nice and thin, settling into the grain of the ash body, and cosmetic wear is limited to faint buckle worming central to the back, a few small chips along the lower bout perimeter, and just a few additional tiny marks on the body as a whole. The ambered nitro gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
