Up for sale, a 2011 Fender Jazzmaster '62 reissue electric guitar in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This "Made in Japan" Jazzmaster model JM66 is rarely seen outside its country of origin, offering a broad range of vintage-flavored tonalities with a rich three-tone Sunburst gloss finish and alder body. A textbook example of everything we love about the Jazzmaster, the instrument has plenty of twang and sparkle on tap, with a range of defined and powerful tones from the two single coil pickups, and warm, wooly sounds when switched to the Rhythm Circuit on the guitar's lower body horn. Weighing 7lbs 10oz, this Jazzmaster balances well on a strap and has a smooth, clear acoustic voice. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar where we specialize in Fender Offset instruments, this Jazzmaster is dialed in for low action and accurate intonation with 11-49 roundwound strings.
The amber-tinted maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with modest shoulder and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .830” deep at the 1st fret and .895” at the 12th. The thick rosewood fretboard has dot inlay and original slender vintage-style frets that retain their full factory height with well-rounded crowns, showing light wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-12. The guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures just a hair over 1 5/8" in width (1.665"). The headstock sports a Pre-CBS style "Spaghetti" Jazzmaster logo, with Kluson-style tuning machines which turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The "Made in Japan" script text and U-prefix serial number are present just above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics work as they should, and the chrome hardware is bright and clean, with just a speckling of surface patina. The vibrato unit engages smoothly for quick warbles and surfy dives, working in concert with the original bridge. The chrome plating on the vibrato and bridge base is bright and clean, with light patina on the bridge saddles. Plastics include a dark brown tortoise pickguard which shows some requisite pick scuffing on the treble side, and uniformly aged pickup covers and knobs. Cosmetic wear on the Sunburst gloss finish includes scattered dings on the lower bout body edge, a spot of modest buckle rash at the bass-side waist just below the belly carve, and some additional light finish scratches and nicks across the back. The ambered gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
***We are dealers for the Mastery M2 bridge, OMV-P Offset Vibrato, and Lollar pickups, any or all of which can be installed prior to shipment for an additional charge***
