Up for sale, a 2011 Fender Jazz Bass ‘62 vintage reissue model JB62-US in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, sporting a custom color Ocean Turquoise finish. A discontinued Made in Japan bass sold exclusively in the Japanese domestic market, this upper-tier model features USA-made Fender pickups and vintage-spec touches including full-size tuner baseplates and spiral bridge saddles.

The fit and finish of this Jazz Bass rivals Fender’s American Vintage line of instruments, and the stock USA-made pickups deliver the goods. Weighing 9lbs 4oz, this bass has ample natural sustain and punch; the pickups have plenty of sweet midrange and articulate growl, with a clear treble response and broad thump on tap when you dial back the Tone knob. This JB62-US has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-105 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and accurate intonation.

The maple neck has a moderately slender C-shaped profile carve at the nut, with additional shoulder and heft further up the fretboard, measuring .820” deep at the 1st fret and .999” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard features a 7 1/4“ radius and flawless vintage-spec slender fretwire. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 1/2“ in width, and the headstock sports clover button tuners that have vintage-spec full-size baseplates. The “Made in Japan” text and U-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.

All of the electronics function as intended, with the USA-made pickups wired to the stock harness. Plastics comprise the original trio of knobs and a three-ply parchment pickguard. The chrome-plated hardware shines like new, including the control plate and bridge base.

The custom color Ocean Turquoise finish is one of Fender Japan's paler iterations of this classic custom color, and this is a well-kept example, with cosmetic wear limited to a few tiny dings on the body perimeter and a handful of small nicks and faint scratches in the clear coat on the back. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is pristine.

A gigbag is included.
