Up for sale, a 2011 Fender Aerodyne Stratocaster in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. An uncommon model, this “Made in Japan” Strat was produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and features a gloss Black finish with matching headstock and cream body binding. Loaded with a trio of staggered pole single coil pickups, this guitar delivers an array of classic Strat tonalities easily accessible through the five-way selector switch. There’s plenty of sparkle on tap; shimmering snap at the bridge, rounder, bell-like tones at the neck, and classic Strat quack at the “in-between” positions. Featherweight at just 6lbs 12oz, this Strat has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .840” deep at the 1st fret and .910” at the 12th. The 22-fret slab rosewood fretboard has a 7 1/4” radius and retains flawless slender fretwire. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The stock bone nut measures 42mm (1.650”) in width. On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch. The “Made in Japan” text and U-prefix serial number are present above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics function as intended, with a traditional Stratocaster control layout and five-way pickup selector switch. The chrome-plated hardware is bright and clean, and the guitar features a vintage-style Strat vibrato which anchors with six screws and is slightly recessed into the body. Plastics comprise the original trio of knobs and the three-ply black pickguard, which displays some light scuffing on the treble side of the strum path.
The gloss Black finish is framed on top by cream body binding, with cosmetic wear limited to a few microscopic dings on the lower bout on top, and just a scant few faint finish scratches on the body as a whole. The satin finish on the neck profile is immaculate and feels lightning fast in the palm.
A gigbag is included.
