+ shipping

Up for sale, a 2011 Ernie Ball Music Man Ball Family Reserve Luke II in showroom clean condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Finished in True Gold, this second iteration of Music Man's Steve Lukather signature model was limited to only 200 pieces worldwide, available only through Music Man's Premier Dealer Network.

Tonewoods include an alder body and rosewood neck, and the EMG HSS pickup array offers a broad, articulate range of tones. The 85X bridge position humbucker has an organic and open voice with added headroom. Featuring close aperture coils and Alnico V magnets, the 85X is a powerful pickup with exceptional tone and versatility, providing a muscular growl and smooth lead tones applicable to everything from the blues to the most extreme metal. The SLVX single coils in the middle and neck positions have the additional coil windings and the hidden pole pieces of the original SLV and adds the X series preamp. The X series preamp gives the pickup a more dynamic range along with increased headroom while keeping the more traditional string-to-string balance of the SLV. X series pickups also come with an Active Tone Control (VLPF) designed to roll-off (attenuate) high frequencies, similar to a typical passive tone control. The result is a noiseless single coil guitar pickup with a classic EMG sound and pole pieces closer to the individual strings for more output and a punchier attack. The Ball Family Reserve Luke II weighs 7lbs 15oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action and spot-on intonation.

The rosewood neck has a soft V-shaped profile carve with faintly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .850" deep at the 1st fret and .945" at the 12th. The neck profile has Music Man's proprietary gunstock oil and hand-rubbed special wax blend, while the headstock is finished in a high gloss. The rosewood fretboard has a 12" radius, and the wide, low profile fretwire is flawless, playing cleanly up the straight neck and 25 1/2" scale. The compensated nut measures 1 5/8" in width, and the headstock features Schaller M6 locking tuning machines with pearloid buttons, offering ideal stability.

All of the electronics function flawlessly, with the EMG pickup set governed by a five-way pickup selector switch and Master Volume and Tone knobs. The two-point Music Man vibrato has hardened steel saddles and a very smooth response for quick flutters and deeper dives. The chrome plating on the hardware shines like new, and the True Gold gloss finish is extremely well-kept. There's barely a scratch on it save for very faint pick scuffing on the treble side of the pick path, and the finish on the neck profile is flawless.

A modern molded hardshell case is included.
