Up for sale, a 2011 Duesenberg D-Bass in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. This versatile bass can deliver a bevy of sounds thanks to the proprietary Toaster Bass humbucker and passive Mid-Shape control.Tonewoods include a contoured one-piece American alder body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, and at 8lbs 15oz this D-Bass has a rich, balanced natural acoustic quality channeled by the Toaster Bass humbucker. This unique pickup has the aesthetics of a Precision-style split-coil pickup, but actually features two small humbuckers. It’s warm and rich, with excellent string-to-string balance and plenty of harmonic complexity. The Mid-Shape control, when turned all of the up, utilizes both coils of each pickup fully, yet with some treble signal filtered by a capacitor, resulting in a Precision-style sound that's thumpy and round. Turning the control counterclockwise dials out the signal of one of each humbucker’s coils while simultaneously lessening the capacitor’s effect on the signal, resulting in a brighter and more focused Jazz-style sound. This Duesenberg has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation. The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .835” deep at the 1st fret and .945” at the 12th. The thick slab Indian rosewood fretboard has a 12” radius, and the jumbo fretwire is in great shape with well-rounded crowns, exhibiting light wear beneath the strings on the crowns of frets 1-9. This D-Bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 5/8“ in width. The headstock has a stair-stepped truss rod cover, and the locking Duesenberg Z-Tuners function smoothly with “Art Diego” buttons. The back of the headstock retains the raised serial badge, dating this instrument to 2011.The electronics include the Toaster Bass humbucker with Volume, Tone, and Mid-Shape controls. The nickel-plated hardware still has plenty of shine, including the knurled knobs, bridge, and Toaster pickup covers. The American alder body sports a comfortable shape with subtle German carve, and the gloss PUR lacquer Sonoma Red finish is framed by cream binding. Cosmetic wear includes buckle rash across the back, with a handful of minor nicks and dings on the lower bout perimeter and bass side of the top, plus a few faint scratches in the clear coat on the body as a whole. The smooth satin finish on the neck profile is flawless.A padded faux leather gigbag is included.
