Up for sale, a 2010s Tokai Heritage Series TES-1 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case and hangtag. Expertly crafted in Japan, this rare model is a faithful recreation of an ES platform with an amalgamation of golden age Gibson features including a “long guard” pickguard, amber switch tip, Mickey Mouse ear rounded cutaways and ambered bonnet knobs all referencing circa 1959-60 spec, while the block inlay and multi-ply binding reference the upscale ES-345/355 models.
Tonewoods include a semi-hollow maple body with light flame figuring on top and a chunky ‘59-style one-piece mahogany neck capped by a bound rosewood fretboard. The PAF-style humbuckers meter 7.7k ohms at the neck and 8.3k ohms at the bridge, delivering the same warm lows, smooth trebles, and tailored midrange clarity characteristic of Gibson’s original design. This guitar offers a broad range of tones with distinct sounds at each position on the three-way switch, from smooth bridge pickup growl and articulation to broad neck pickup girth. Featherweight at 6lbs 14oz, this TES-1 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
