Up for sale, a 2010's Mosrite Telstar '64 Ventures Model electric guitar in new old stock condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and hangtag. Virtually unplayed, this Mosrite is immaculate in its presentation with a Pearl White gloss finish.
Crafted at the KuroKumo factory in Japan, just down the road from the famed FujiGen factory, this rare reissue model was made for a limited period, only available to the domestic Japanese market. KuroKumo-made Mosrites are sought after for their masterful build quality and attention to detail, and this Telstar '64 is essentially a rebranding of the Super Custom 64 model.
The Telstar '64 replicates all the essential features of the early Ventures Model instruments, with smooth knobs and pickup covers, a sandcast Vibraroller tailpiece (identical in construction to the Vibramute), and prominent German Carve on the basswood body. The stock pair of L-4000 single coil pickups are snappy and sparkling, providing a bold, distinct sound in every pickup position. Chewy and snappy at the bridge and warmer at the neck, these pickups offer an authoritative treble zing that's quintessential Mosrite. Weighing 8lbs 8oz, this Mosrite has been setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-48 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with just enough roundness in the shoulders and a fast, effortless feel, measuring .795” deep at the 1st fret just beyond the volute, and .860” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard has fret edge binding and flawless slender fretwire. A faithful reissue in every respect, this Mosrite boasts a 24 3/4" scale length and 1.670" (just fractionally shy of 1 11/16") wide zero fret just forward of the aluminum nut. The headstock features Kluson-style tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch well with liberal vibrato use, and the "Kurokumo" name is present on the headstock volute.
The body features original L-4000 single coil pickups with smooth covers, governed by a three-way pickup selector switch with screw-on tip and a pair of Volume and Tone controls with smooth, chrome-plated knobs. The “Vibraroller” vibrato is extremely smooth and elegant, touch-sensitive in its responsiveness and made to exacting vintage spec with a sandcast base and chrome-plated string anchor and arm. The Telstar '64 look is rounded out with a reddish brown tortoise multi-ply pickguard, and the gloss Pearl White finish has barely a scratch on it.
The original faux alligator hardshell case is included, along with the original hangtag.
