Out Of Stock
Up for sale, a 2010's Mosrite Surfrider '65 Ventures Model electric guitar in new old stock condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. Virtually unplayed, this Mosrite is immaculate in its presentation with a Pearl White gloss finish.

Crafted at the KuroKumo factory in Japan, just down the road from the famed FujiGen factory, this rare reissue model was made for a limited period, only available to the domestic Japanese market. KuroKumo-made Mosrites are sought after for their masterful build quality and attention to detail, and this Surfrider '65 is essentially a rebranding of the Super Custom 65 model.

The Surfrider replicates all the essential features of the Ventures Model instruments, with "M" knobs, a sandcast Vibraroller tailpiece (identical in construction to the Vibramute), and prominent German Carve on the basswood body. The stock pair of L-2000 single coil pickups are snappy and sparkling, not as overwound as some, yet still providing a bold, distinct sound in every pickup position. Chewy and snappy at the bridge and warmer at the neck, these pickups offer an authoritative treble zing that's quintessential Mosrite. Weighing 8lbs 13oz, this Mosrite has been setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.

The maple neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with just enough roundness in the shoulders and a fast, effortless feel, measuring .850” deep at the 1st fret and .875” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard is a dark cut of this particular tonewood with fret edge binding and flawless slender fretwire. A faithful reissue in every respect, this Mosrite boasts a 24 3/4" scale length and 1 9/16" wide zero fret just forward of the aluminum nut. The headstock features Kluson-style tuners which turn smoothly and hold pitch well with liberal vibrato use, and the "Kurokumo" name is present on the headstock volute.

The body features original L-2000 single coil pickups, and while these pickups are less aggressive in terms of output than vintage Mosrite pickups, they have a nice snappy single coil chime. The Surfrider '65 look is rounded out with a black multi-ply pickguard, screw-on switch tip, and chrome-plated metal Mosrite "M" knobs. The “Vibraroller” vibrato is extremely smooth and elegant, touch-sensitive in its responsiveness and made to exacting vintage spec with a sandcast base and chrome-plated string anchor and arm. The gloss Pearl White finish has barely a scratch on it with faint yellowing of the clear coat.

The original faux alligator hardshell case is included.
