Up for sale, a 2010 Roscoe SKB Custom 5 fretless bass in showroom clean, 100% original condition and in perfect working order with factory-installed Nordstrand DC5 pickups. Known for making high quality basses with exceptional playability that cover a very broad frequency spectrum, Roscoe instruments are hand-built in North Carolina.
This SKB Custom 5 weighs 10lbs on the dot, featuring a bubinga top, Spanish cedar body, maple and purpleheart neck, and an unlined slab birdseye maple diamondwood fingerboard. The Nordstrand DC5 dual coil pickups are extremely articulate and sonically malleable, capable of smooth midrange, broad thump, and sweet treble grind. The Audere 3ZB-R active preamp boasts four-band EQ, a center-detent pickup Blend, and a three-way impedance selector mini toggle. The tonal options of the Roscoe are truly vast, and the bass is strung with 45-125 roundwound strings, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar.
The maple/purpleheart neck has a slender D-shaped profile carve with round shoulders, measuring .820" deep just beyond the volute ant .899" at the octave. The scale length is a full 35", and the ebony nut measures 1 3/4" in width. The headstock features a bubinga overlay and lightweight Hipshot tuners that offer optimal performance and stability.
The electronics function flawlessly, with the original Nordstrand DC5 pickup pair wired to the Audere 3ZB-R active preamp. The bubinga top is jaw-dropping in its presentation, with broad curly flame figuring on the bass side and a distinctly burled appearance on the treble side. The body sports a hand-rubbed oil finish, with a smooth flawless satin on the neck profile and fingerboard. There's barely a scratch on this exquisitely well-kept Roscoe.
The original hardshell case is included.
