Up for sale, a 2010 Gibson Custom Shop ES-339 semi-hollowbody in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. An early Custom Shop-made iteration of this model, this ES-339 takes the platform of an ES-335 and shrinks the body size while retaining the tonal properties of its big brother. The semi-hollow maple body provides the articulation and note attack for which that particular tonewood is known, while the one-piece mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard add inherent warmth and girth to the sound. With a pair of Gibson's 57 Classic PAF pickups, the 339 has a smooth, airy treble response with a touch of growl and rich harmonic content. In the neck position, this ES-339 delivers a sweetness and bell-like top end that's great for retaining clarity on solos and complex rhythm work, while the bridge pickup has more midrange aggression and treble bite. Featherweight at 6lbs 14oz, this ES-339 has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action and accurate intonation. The neck has a full-feeling medium C-shaped profile carve with generous shoulders, more in-line with Gibson’s ‘50s neck carves, measuring .840" deep at the 1st fret and .940" at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features dot inlay, refretted with flawless jumbo fretwire. The guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4" scale with a straight neck and responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the tuners have been upgraded to Kluson Revolution Series locking gears with transparent keystone buttons. The electronics are untouched, with clean PAF decals on the 57 Classic humbucker baseplates. Hardware includes a locking nickel-plated ABR-1 bridge and stopbar tailpiece, and plastics comprise a quartet of black reflector cap knobs and four-ply wide bevel pickguard. The orange oval label is visible through the F hole. The three-tone Sunburst nitro lacquer gloss exhibits buckle rash across the back, some pick scuffing across the strum path, and a few additional minor marks and finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with just one shallow nick central to the carve behind fret 9 that has no impact on playability. The original Gibson Custom Shop hardshell case is included.
