Up for sale, a 2010 Gibson Les Paul Standard Goldtop in near-mint condition and in perfect working order, Relic'd by Dax&Co. and outfitted with Bare Knuckle Mule PAF-style humbuckers. With a nitro lacquer Goldtop/Darkback finish and a skillful Heavy Relic by the veteran luthiers at Dax&Co., this Goldtop finish has been lightly applied and aged to highlight the guitar's premium two-piece flame maple cap.
The Bare Knuckle Mule humbuckers are a highly regarded boutique pickup set, voiced as faithful reproductions of the best ‘59 PAFs, featuring vintage accurate techniques and components including 42 AWG plain enamel wire, Fillister no.5 pole screws, sand-cast Alnico IV magnets, and solid nickel silver baseplates/covers. They’re quite successful in capturing a PAF tonal profile, delivering the warmth, harmonic overtones, and depth of the iconic design, with a slightly fuller midrange for ideal heft without sacrificing clarity. This Goldtop weighs 9lbs 2oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings low action, and accurate intonation.

Dax&Co's Heavy Relic includes spraying a Goldtop/Darkback finish that's much more thinly applied than Gibson's factory finish for increased resonance, with a secondary goal of drawing focus to the premium bookmatched AAA flame maple top. Heavily checked and greened-out, the opaque Goldtop nitro lacquer gloss even allows a hint of the flame maple beneath to peek through, further highlighted by the faux forearm wear on the lower bout through the lacquer. Additional Relic'ing includes lacquer checking, simulated buckle rash and various marks of faux wear. There is ostensibly no wear on the instrument beyond Dax&Co's Heavy Relic treatment, and most of the gloss on the neck profile has been removed, simulating palm wear, giving the neck a worn-in satin feel that is exceedingly fast in the palm.
The original Gibson brown tolex hardshell case is included, along with the Dax&Co. CoA and documentation, and associated paperwork for the Bare Knuckle pickups.
