Up for sale, a 2010 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Special in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case and COA. This Les Paul Special features a unique factory custom color Kerry Green/Tobacco Sunburst nitro lacquer gloss finish.
Tonewoods include a slab mahogany body, one-piece mahogany neck with a ‘50s-style chunky C-shaped profile carve, and a rosewood fingerboard, yielding plenty of natural warmth and liveliness, qualities faithfully captured by the P-90 pickup pair. The pickups deliver all of the sweetness, glassy articulation, and midrange growl associated with a P-90, offering pristine cleans and dirty overdriven grit. This Les Paul Special weighs 8lbs 13oz, benefitting from a professional setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 11-49 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The mahogany neck has a ‘50s-style chunky C-shaped “baseball bat” profile carve with particularly substantial shoulders and ideal heft, measuring .945” deep at the 1st fret and 1.040” at the 12th. The rosewood fretboard features flawless medium jumbo fretwire, playing cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 1 11/16” in width. The headstock sports “Les Paul Special” gold silkscreened script, and the Kluson-style single-line Deluxe strip tuners turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with white buttons. The back of the headstock retains the inked serial.
All of the electronics function as intended; the P-90 pickups are wired to the stock harness with braided leads, 500k pots and bumblebee tone caps. The nickel-plated wraparound bridge has a consistent dusting of surface patina, and plastics comprise the quartet of bonnet knobs and matching black P-90 covers.
The Kerry Green/Tobacco Sunburst finish is a virtually unseen factory custom color, and the guitar is extremely well-kept, with cosmetic wear limited to a few faint finish scratches on the body as a whole, and light pick scuffing across the strum path.
