Up for sale, a 2010 Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul Axcess in 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original hardshell case. This Gibson Custom Shop offering represents a modern reinterpretation of the classic Les Paul Standard platform, delivering the same aesthetics and tones as the iconic original with new, player-friendly features including a weight-relieved, contoured mahogany body, “heelless” neck heel contour, a Floyd Rose tremolo, and coil taps for the humbuckers. The mahogany body is topped by a heavily figured two-piece curly flame maple cap, and the figuring on the top exceeds many of the Custom Shop Axcess offerings. Balanced and full-sounding acoustically, the clarity and treble cut of maple is buoyed by the foundational warmth of the mahogany. The 490R and 498T humbuckers are one of Gibson's classic modern pairings. The 490R is voiced similarly to a PAF, with increased upper midrange response and wax potting for optimal feedback rejection in high gain scenarios. The 498T "Hot Alnico" (Alnico V) bridge pickup also has enhanced upper mids, engineered for crunch and sustain with a beefy, sizzling quality. This guitar weighs 8lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, slinky action, and spot-on intonation. The mahogany neck has a medium C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders, measuring .840” deep at the 1st fret and .970” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard is a dark cut with pearloid trapezoid inlay, and the medium jumbo fretwire exhibits light wear beneath the plain strings on the crowns of frets 1-13, becoming progressively lighter as you approach the octave. This guitar plays cleanly up the 24 3/4“ scale with enhanced access to the upper frets given the heelless design. The neck is straight, and the truss rod is responsive and optimally-adjusted. The locking nut measures 1 11/16” in width, and on the headstock, the Gibson Deluxe double-line turning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with lightly greened keystone buttons. The back of the headstock sports a Gibson Custom graphic and inked CS-prefix serial number. All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickup pair governed by a standard Les Paul control configuration. Solder joints are untouched, and each Tone pot is a push-pull design to individually coil tap the humbuckers. Plastics comprise the cream switch tip and pickup rings, and the quartet of gold bonnet knobs. The Floyd Rose tremolo actuates quickly and snaps quickly back to pitch, with clean chrome plating. The deep belly contour further increases comfort, while simultaneously helping to reduce the weight of the instrument. The gloss Iced Tea Burst nitro lacquer finish highlights the dimensional, wall-to-wall figuring in the two piece bookmatched flame maple top, with cosmetic wear including some natural pick wear on the treble side of the strum path, particularly framing the bridge pickup ring. There is buckle rash across the back, and a number of minor dings and faint scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile retains its smooth gloss, with a handful of shallow nicks along the profile that don't distract the palm while fretting. The original Gibson Custom-branded hardshell case is included.
