Up for sale, a 2010 Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1960 Les Paul Standard R0 in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with a hardshell case. Part of Gibson's Custom Shop Historic line of premium Bursts, this guitar boasts a carved figured bookmatched maple top, Burstbucker PAF humbuckers, era-correct slender '60 neck profile, and a nitro lacquer gloss Ice Tea Sunburst finish.
Tonally, everything stems from the acoustic properties of the instrument, and this Les Paul has a smooth, detailed voice when strummed unplugged, with great bark in the low end, and full, round sounding plain strings that deliver a woody zing. Weighing 9lbs 4oz and balancing well on a strap, the sound is lively and harmonically complex in all registers, and the original Burstbucker 1 and 2 pickups do an excellent job of capturing everything we love about the sound of a Les Paul Standard. There's power and articulation in the bridge position, with thick sounds from the neck pickup that are ideal for lead work while still staying defined. The guitar has been professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and accurate intonation.
The mahogany neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders in every register, measuring .825" deep at the 1st fret and .935" at the 12th. The bound dark Indian rosewood fretboard features vintage-spec pearloid trapezoid inlays, as well as stock medium jumbo fretwire that shows virtually no wear with perfectly rounded crowns. Notes ring out clearly up the 24 3/4" scale, and the nylon measures 1 11/16" in width. The headstock has the correct 17 degree angle, holly veneer, stock truss rod cover, and original Gibson Deluxe double line tuning machines with lightly greened translucent keystone buttons.
All of the electronics function flawlessly with the Burstbucker PAFs wired to the original harness with stock pots, bumblebee tone caps, and "R0" stamp in the corner of the control cavity. The nickel hardware has gleaming plating on the pickup covers, no-wire ABR-1 bridge, and stopbar tailpiece. The plastics are extremely well-kept, with the stock pickup rings, pickguard, and amber bell knobs.
Tasteful, consistent curly flame figuring extends evenly across the top, with very dynamic grain, particularly on the bass side of the top, highlighted by a high gloss nitro lacquer Ice Tea Sunburst finish. Cosmetic wear is limited to a couple small nicks to the bass side of the center seam on top as well as above the switch surround, with similarly restrained wear on the back. The gloss finish on the neck profile is flawless.
A Gibson USA black tolex hardshell case is included.
