Up for sale, a 2010 Fender Stratocaster ‘62 vintage reissue model ST62 in near-mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, finished in Seafoam Green and complete with the original gigbag and hangtags. This “Made in Japan” Strat is a discontinued model, crafted exclusively for the Japanese domestic market and uncommon outside of its country of origin.
Tonewoods include a basswood body, maple neck, and thick slab rosewood fretboard, and this guitar has a smooth, clear acoustic presence that translates well through the stock trio of ceramic magnet single coil pickups. These Fender single coils have a clear sound, with more punch and cut than alnico magnet varieties, offering a sparkling sound in the bridge position, a fat, authoritative quality at the neck, and hollow quack at the “in-between” positions on the five-way pickup selector switch. This Strat weighs 7lbs 9oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a moderately slender C-shaped profile carve with round shoulders and lightly rolled fretboard edges, measuring .820” deep at the 1st fret and .910” at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard has a vintage-spec 7 1/4“ radius, and the stock slender fretwire is pristine. This guitar plays cleanly up the 25 1/2“ scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod. The nut measures 42.5mm (1.675”) in width, carved from bone for optimal clarity and sustain. On the headstock, the Kluson-style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold accurate pitch, with clean chrome plating. The “Made in Japan” text and T-prefix serial are present above the four-bolt neck plate.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by a five-way selector switch and traditional Volume/Tone/Tone knobs. The chrome hardware has plenty of shine, and the vibrato actuates smoothly, complete with the original arm. Plastics comprise the trio of knobs and the clean three-ply parchment pickguard, and there is a small chip in the bass-side lower corner of the rear vibrato cavity cover.
The custom color Seafoam Green finish is rich and saturated, exceedingly well-kept with barely a scratch on it. The smooth ambered gloss on the neck profile is flawless.
The original Fender-branded padded gigbag is included, along with the hangtags.
