Up for sale, a 2010 Fender Mustang Bass in 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Made in Japan, this Mustang is a faithful and discontinued reissue of the classic short scale Fender model, with a factory installed split coil Seymour Duncan pickup. Finished in gloss Black, this iteration of the Mustang Bass was made for the Japanese domestic market and is rarely seen outside its country of origin. There's a certain pluck and punch unique to this bass that's particularly appealing and sits well in a mix, with a thump that fills out the low end nicely while being a bit more focused than a Precision Bass. More aggressive and midrange forward than a P, this Mustang Bass is strung with roundwound 45-105 strings, delivering an articulate top end and a touch of growl. The instrument is also particularly lightweight at only 7lbs 12oz. We've had this Mustang Bass dialed in to perfection here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with optimal action and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a slender C profile carve at the nut with lightly rolled fretboard edges, prominent shoulder in every register, and notable heft as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .785" deep at the 1st fret and .999" at the 12th. The thick slab rosewood fretboard retains the original slender frets which have well-rounded crowns and their full factory height, playing cleanly in every register and showing only very light wear on frets 1-5. The scale length is 30", while the fretboard radius matches vintage spec at 7 1/4" and the nut width measures 1 1/2". On the headstock, the clover button tuning gears turn very smoothly with only light surface patina, and the block "Mustang Bass" logo is present on the headstock face. The "Made in Japan" text and U-prefix serial are present just above the four-bolt "F" neck plate.
The simple and straightforward electronics work as they should, with Master Volume and Tone controls to govern the split coil Seymour Duncan pickup. The chrome-plated bridge and control plate are positively gleaming, and the white pearloid three-ply pickguard contrasts with the Black gloss finish. There is one chip into the wood on the treble side lower bout edge on the back, and a few minor nicks and scuffs on the parameter of the slab body. Wear is otherwise limited to some light finish scratches mostly localized on the bass-side lower bout, also on the back. The neck profile has a flawless ambered gloss finish.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
