Up for sale, a 2010 Fender Mustang '65 vintage reissue model MG65-VSP in near mint, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. Arguably the most thorough, no-corners-cut reissue of Fender's 1965 Mustang model ever offered by Fender on any continent, this VSP-tier Mustang is extremely rare and virtually unseen outside of Japan. The VSP Fenders represent Fender Japan's finest models, and in every way this Mustang is equivalent to Fender's American Vintage line (which never included a proper Mustang). Features include a nitro lacquer Sonic Blue gloss finish on the poplar body, gray bobbin pickups with cloth covered leads wired to USA-made CTS pots, Schaller-made Fender F tuners, and a thick slab rosewood fretboard on the one-piece maple neck.
The pair of gray bobbin pickups can twang and chime with the best, delivering a detailed sound that has sparkle and kick. The three-way on/off/on pickup switches can also produce the Mustang's signature squawky and cutting out-of-phase sound when in their innermost or outermost positions. Lightweight at 7lbs 5oz, we've had this Mustang professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with easy-playing action, accurate intonation and fresh 11-49 strings.
Neck Specs:
-Wood: Maple
-Shape: Slender C, measuring .825” 1st fret, .940” 12th fret
-Fretboard: Rosewood slab, vintage-spec 7 1/4” radius, pearloid dot inlays
-Frets: Slender, light wear on frets 1-7
-Scale Length: 24"
-Nut: 1 5/8”, bone
-Tuners: Fender F tuners (Schaller-made)
-Serialization: “Made in Japan,” U-prefix
Body Specs:
-Wood: Poplar
-Pickups: Gray bobbin single coil x2
-Controls: Volume, Tone, On/Off/On pickup switch x2
-Harness: CTS 250K pots date to 29th week of 2008

The gloss Sonic Blue finish is exceptionally clean, save for one tiny finish chip on the body perimeter and faint scratches in the clear coat on the lower bout perimeter. The ambered gloss on the neck profile is smooth and clean, save for a few very shallow marks.
The original Fender-branded gigbag is included.
