Up for sale, a 2010 Fender Jazz Bass ‘75 vintage reissue model JB75-PJ in exceptional, 100% original condition and in perfect working order, complete with the original padded gigbag. Among the rarer Fender Japan basses, this well-crafted “Made in Japan” offering pairs the look and feel of a ‘70s Jazz Bass with the tonal versatility of a PJ pickup complement.
Tonewood include an alder body, maple neck, and bound rosewood fretboard, and the pickups offer a wide range of sounds, with the heft and thump of a Precision split-coil neck pickup and the midrange cut and articulation of a Jazz Bass single coil at the bridge. Of course, the best sounds are achieved by finding an ideal blend of the two, with low-end warmth balanced by burp and growl. This bass weighs 9lbs 5oz, professionally setup here at Mike & Mike’s Guitar Bar with 45-100 roundwound strings, easy-playing action, and spot-on intonation.
The maple neck has a slender U-shaped profile carve at the nut, with additional heft in the upper registers, measuring .800” deep at the 1st fret and .970” at the 12th. The bound rosewood fretboard features pearloid block inlay, and the medium jumbo fretwire is nigh flawless, only exhibiting a hint of wear beneath the strings on the crowns of frets 3-4. This bass plays cleanly up the 34” scale with a straight neck and a responsive, optimally-adjusted truss rod, and the bone nut measures 1 1/2“ in width. The headstock features a bullet truss rod nut, block logo, and full-size vintage-style Fender tuners with clover buttons. The “Made in Japan” text is present above the four-bolt neck plate, with the T-prefix serial number beneath the Jazz Bass logo on the headstock face.
All of the electronics function as intended, with the pickups governed by independent Volume knobs and a Master Tone control. The chrome-plated control plate and bridge base have plenty of shine, as do the steel barrel saddles. Plastics comprise the trio of knobs and the notably clean three-ply pickguard. Cosmetic wear on the gloss Candy Apple Red finish is limited to a number of dings and scratches along the lower bout perimeter; the rest of the body, by comparison, presents very cleanly. The smooth gloss on the neck profile is immaculate.
The original Fender-branded padded gigbag is included.
