Up for sale, a 2010 Fender Jazz Bass '66 vintage reissue model JB66B in like-new condition and in perfect working order, complete with an upgraded hardshell case. An exceedingly rare limited edition model made exclusively for Ikebe in Japan, this top-tier Fender Japan bass was offered only in the Japanese domestic market in sparingly small numbers.
Features include a custom color gloss Inca Silver finish with matching headstock, satin neck profile finish, bound rosewood fretboard with pearl dot inlay, and vintage-spec hardware including clover button tuners and spiral bridge saddles. An alder-bodied bass with a smooth and balanced natural acoustic response, this Jazz Bass is strung with 45-100 roudnwound strings, delivering plenty of treble articulation, present midrange burp and growl, and round low end thump with the Tone knob rolled back to taste. Weighing 9lb 9oz, we've had this Jazz Bass professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with comfortable action and accurate intonation.
The maple neck has a slender C-shaped profile carve with full shoulders and more roundness as you travel up the fretboard, measuring .810" deep at the 1st fret and .970" at the 12th. The bass conforms to traditional Fender specifications with a 7 1/4" fretboard radius and 34" scale, and the fretboard reflects very rare cosmetic features only offered by Fender from 1965-66 on the Jazz Bass model, pairing ambered binding and pearl dot inlay. The slender frets are flawless, and the bass plays easily up the straight neck with a responsive, optimally adjusted truss rod. The Inca Silver headstock features clover button tuners with full-size, vintage-spec baseplates and spotless chrome.
The electronics are untouched with Fender Japan pickups and pots and a traditional Volume/Volume/Tone control layout. Hardware includes the stock bridge with spiral saddles and chrome control plate which shines like new. The dark brown tortoise pickguard retains its clear protective factory plastic (a testament to the sparingly little use this bass has seen in the past decade), and the gloss Inca Silver finish has barely a scratch on it. The satin neck profile finish is equally pristine.
A black tolex hardshell case is included with the Fernandes logo on the exterior and a signature from an unknown artist.
